When you get what you want in your struggle for self,
And the world makes you king for a day,
Then you go to the mirror and look at yourself, and see what that man has to say.
For it isn’t a man’s father, mother, or wife,
Whose judgement upon him must pass,
The fellow whose verdict counts most in life,
Is the man staring back from the glass.
He’s the fellow to please, never mind all the rest,
For he’s with you clear to the end,
And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test,
If the man in the glass is your friend.
You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But the final reward will be the heartache and tears,
If you’ve cheated the man in the glass..

This is by far one of my all time favorite poems! I don’t know if you know but I love classic poetry, I have like 70+ books lol. But this is such a great poem because it’s so true and holds so much weight. So many people live a life that they don’t want and aren’t true to themselves. Being true to yourself is the most important thing in life people will come and go but you have to live with yourself every day. You’ll live inside your head knowing who you really are and you’ll be old and taking your final breaths regretting it all as you think back over your life.
So just be you
