Left over lamb masala over shirataki noodles to break my 17 hour fast 👍 wanted a bit more fat content so added some mct oil to the sauce.

#transformationtuesday is always one of my favorite days because I’m able to look back and see how far I’ve come this last year!
•
Some days I do not see a change when I look at my photos (like this side by side) but I KNOW there are a bunch of #nonscalevictories that cannot be seen.
•
1. I don’t have my killing migraines anymore.
2. My arthritis is not as bad so far this year. The cold makes it worse and so far, it’s been mild.
3. I’ve gone from a size 3-4 plus size @maurices shirt to a XL-XXL.
4. I’ve gone from a size 24 jeans to a size 16 because my butt will just not go away! 🍑🍑
5. I have more self confidence. I hold my head high when I walk now and don’t stare at my feet like I used to. I can give that attractive guy a sly grin and not feel horrible. 🤷‍♀️

Just never give up on the journey you are on. Don’t compare yourself to other because everyone is at a different stepping stone in their race.

Dinner tonight is five spice wedges(f) and chicken(p) fried rice(f)... it’s got lots of onion and peppers in for speed. 😊
I don’t feel well at all tonight so gonna get an early night. Will probably just have an options hot chocolate now. 
Will be ending the day on 15 syns if I have a hot chocolate 😬

Hi! Let me introduce myself in case we haven’t gotten to know each other yet. I’m from Madison, Wisconsin and am a wife (soul mate type of situation. Fairy tale-love at first sight -kind of deal for 20 years!) and we have 3 of the best kids and a pupper we adore. I’ve been teaching yoga for over 15 years and I also teach Stress Management. 🎁Gift guide 2

This one is tailored for someone who loves the gym/exercise... or for you to tag a friend and drop a hint 😉

1. Chalk! If you know someone who lifts weights, this is an essential. Let's not start a discussion over liquid chalk vs regular chalk, but these are both affordable options. I use the liquid chalk from @myprotein but you can get climbers chalk in loads of places these days (I've even seen it in TK Maxx) €9.50 for liquid chalk, climbers chalk is about €3 in most places

2. A shaker. You can never have too many shakers! They can be as cheap as €2 or super fancy ones can be around €10. You can get a range from @hpnutrition or @bodyfirstnutrition

3. A giant reusable water bottle! @bodyfirstnutrition do these 2L ones which are super handy. I am prone to make bad jokes about the various uses for these (like an office dumbbell, a giant indicator that you're into health...) but jokes aside, these are handy AND reusable so good for the oul environment. Price: €8

4. Spotify gift voucher. Honestly this is just a great gift in general but it's especially useful for someone who goes to a gym that plays terrible music

5. A waterproof gym bag. If you know someone who walks to/ from the gym then the waterproof part is essential. You don't want to walk through the rain in gym gear to then change into wet clothes! There's some great, large options for under €30 in places like JD Sports like this Underarmour one

6.A fitness watch or pedometer. Usually people just want to track their steps & heart rate; there are really great options out there from brands like Garmin, or Huawei with a much better price tag than a Fitbit. Huawei Honor Band is €35 euro

7. A gift card for a shop that sells exercise equipment (like resistance bands and stuff) @D8fitness are a shop in Dublin that do this, so if you know someone who's into the gym  or home workouts but you don't know what to get them - this is a solid idea!

8. Travel sized toiletries & containers. These are SO handy for a gym bag and things like travel sized containers that can be refilled are a staple for me. They take up such little space in your bag and are easy to refill! I get mine from Boots 🎁

My lunch 🍴!! I haven’t posted one of these in a bit...it feels great when I feed my body right... I actually notice the different now and I hate how I feel when I eat too or don’t eat healthy... i actually hate bell pepper and this is the only way i can eat them but green beans will forever be my favorite..another lunch idea for you all

You may have seen from my stories and today’s horrific “lungeathon” workout that I have not squatted for a while now & I often get asked whether or not you HAVE to squat in order to maximise quad development and it may come as a surprise to you but the answer is NO 😱

Don’t get me wrong, squats are an extremely effective exercise for overall quad development, specifically heavy & deep as muscle activity has frequently shown to increase with increasing external loads (McCaw et al 1998, Boyden et al 2000, Pick et al 2000) & depths (Bloomquist et al 2013) however, they are not NECESSARY, as machines have shown to produce similar EMG activity, especially when relative loads are matched (Andersen et al 2006). In fact, (Ebben et al 2009) based purely off EMG data, some machines (extensions) have shown the greatest OVERALL quad activity (Ebben et al 2009) with other exercises such as step ups & lunges (as I discussed in my story) having also shown to elicit high quad & glute activity (Pincivero et al 2000) & actually OUTPERFORM the squat for vastus lateralis activity (Ebben et al 2009) meaning a lunge/step up could be a great substitution for squats

Furthermore, by only squatting you may be surprised to hear that you WON’T maximise your leg growth as, when it comes to rectus femoris (one of the 4 muscles of the quads), due to aiding in BOTH knee ext. & hip flex., gets little activation in the squat due to the simultaneous hip & knee flex. involved thus by having more variety in your leg training (especially extensions) research shows that you can maximally stimulate RF & thus leg growth (Ema et al 2013)

Now, in terms of strength development, if maximum strength is your focus, back squats have the most potential for overload as they aren’t limited by the amount that the machine goes up to thus for maximum strength development, yes, you ideally should squat but for hypertrophy, there is no reason to suggest you can’t build a great set of legs without them

I used to be a server with a drinking/drug problem, bills I couldn’t manage & a life I couldn’t afford. 
I struggled very hard financially, so I completely understand that one of the first things to be cut back on is what you eat. 
This right here is not nutrition. This is not economical.
Sure, you “fill up”, but on what?!
Just something to think about when you’re grabbing something that is “quick, easy or cheap” what you put in your body, you will get out. So even if you don’t want to be an Olympic athlete, you still will get the 57 cent outcome of what you feed yourself.

When your mitochondria are not working properly, you suffer all the symptoms of low energy: fatigue, memory loss, pain, rapid aging, and more. For me, discovering the importance of mitochondria and how to optimize their function was a huge part of my personal healing journey.⠀

Mitochondria are key energy sources for our bodies. They are tiny factories housed within our cells that take the foods we eat and the oxygen we breathe and convert them into energy. Each cell holds hundreds or thousands of mitochondria; they are found in greater concentrations in active organs and tissues like the heart, brain, and muscles.⠀
⠀
There are many things you can do to boost and protect your mitochondria:⠀
1) Get moving. You might try interval training, which increases the efficiency and function of your mitochondria, and/or strength training, which increases the amount of muscle and the number of mitochondria.⠀
2) Avoid processed, junk food, sugar and empty calories. Instead eat whole real, colorful plant food—fresh vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts, seeds, and whole grains, they are full of antioxidants and phytonutrients.⠀
3) Increase your intake of omega-3 fats to help build your mitochondrial membranes.  Be sure to include things like salmon, mackerel, sardines, anchovies, chia seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds, walnuts, and egg yolks.⠀
4) Detoxify by Intermittent and periodic fasting.  Drink plenty of clean water. Keep your bowels moving, at least once or twice a day. Sweat profusely at least three times a week, using a sauna, steam, or a detox bath.  Relax deeply every day to get your nervous system in a state of calm, rest, and relaxation.⠀
5) Take mitochondria protective and energy boosting nutrients such as Pure Therapeutic Ketones acetyl-L-carnitine, alpha lipoic acid, coenzyme Q10, n-acetyl-cysteine, NADH, D-ribose, resveratrol, and magnesium aspartate.⠀

Fasted until 12:30 today. I had so many bell peppers in the fridge decided to make a stuffed keto bell pepper. I only had one because bell peppers aren’t a keto vegetable. I stuffed it with @gardein beefless crumbles I cooked in butter and garlic and seasoned with taco seasoning and a small bit of salsa. I topped it with Mexican blend cheese and green onions. I also had some sour cream and guacamole on top. Total of about 6 carbs.

I've been dreading using it because I try not to think of her. Not that I want to not have her on my mind, because she always is, its that thinking of her gives me immediate thoughts of my Grandfather (Grandaddy). But even though I miss them dearly, using my Grandmothers rolling pin put more of their memories in my head and heart.

I got my love of cooking from them.

I got my love for plant based eating because I wish I knew what I know now.

I would've cooked for and reversed all of their diseases. 😂😂😂 if they would've let me. But they were stuck in their ways.

On Monday, my friend of 25 years died of brain cancer 😭 🧠 2 years ago she had ovarian cancer and was in remission after having everything removed. 
I've been coaching her for the past 10 months on fasting, juicing, how emotions and feelings play a role in your health, how to try and eliminate stress out of her life, how wholefoods are important and how to incorporate them into your diet. 
She had so many mental and emotional issues and trauma that she couldn't get rid of and deal with and didn't know how. Even though I was coaching her through it, making changes after 50 years of habit (she was only 61 years old) was truly hard for her. Her daily life and the people she let in she couldn't and didn't want to ultimately change which I believe is what caught up with her in the end. 
We have the control and power to ensure we live a happy and healthy life. We can prevent genetic dispositions from coming to fruition, we can reverse illness and symptoms IF only we believe in the impact of our mental, emotional and spiritual states of mind. 
Therefore, I believe the 7 Principles of Health, wholefoods, fasting and working on your mental and emotional states WILL help to prevent your death caused by your own doing. Sounds harsh I know, I lost my own mother to Pancreatic cancer 2 years ago (the pancreas produces insulin representing sweetness which links to how my mum thought her life wasn't sweet enough... she had shoulda, couldas and wouldas which created resentment and anger plus she had childhood trauma she never dealt with). So! Whether you agree or not, don't waste your life stuck with mental, emotional and spiritual issues. Deal with them now! Incorporate the 7 principles, wholefoods & fasting and you'll see and feel a massive differences in the quality of your life.

All men (and ladies too!) should be aware of their testosterone, as this hormone is key for both anabolic and androgenic processes within the body.

Most notably it helps with protein synthesis, building lean muscle mass, and increasing sex drive. As we age, testosterone levels tend to decrease, so it's important to find ways to keeps levels high.

Rather then turning to supplements that can have negative long-term effects, I'd advise looking into some of the natural alternatives and lifestyle changes:

🥑Consume more healthy fats - Testosterone is literally made from cholesterol, so upping your intake of good cholesterol/healthy fat foods can do wonders for your T levels. Adding cruciferous vegetables and eliminating toxic sugars are good steps to take for T levels as well.

🍺Avoid Alcohol - Regular consumption of alcohol will seriously suppress your T levels. Nothing wrong with having a drink or two 1-2 times a week, but anything more will probably be detrimental.

🛌Improve Your Sleep - Being able to de-stress and get a full nights sleep is key for all hormones, Testosterone included. Try getting 7-9 hours per night and add stress-relieving activities like meditation and yoga into your routine.

🍆Have More Sex - Having regular sex will help to keep your endocrine system stimulated and to boost those T levels. In turn with increased T levels, you will crave more sex. Truly a win-win situation 😉.

🤢Avoid Toxins - Things like phthalates and paragons (found in most personal care products like lotions and shaving creams) BPA (plastic bottles, packaging), and pesticides (fruits & veggies) all can have a negative effect on T levels. Opt for natural products, glass bottles, and organic foods if you can.

💪Workout - Know what's terrible for T levels? Body fat. Know what's great for T level and also helps get rid of body fat? Exercise! Doing compound lifts are especially great for testosterone production and fat loss, so get in the gym!

Today I am having lunch with my good friend Danielle @citygirlgonemom . I made her a beautiful salad with avocado oil. You may not know this, but most salad dressings have inflammatory oils in them like soy, canola, and corn. Rather than using those inflammatory dressings, I always suggest avocado oil to all of my celebrity clients. It’s one of my favorite oils! I try to always carry a packet of @fatissmartfuel wherever I go. It’s so easy and simple. It turns an ordinary meal to a fat burning meal! Comment below and tell me favorite go-to oil!

#zerocarb lunch on the books. Kept it zero carb thus far (dinner will put me at 5 for the day, which is not horrible) and completed a 16 hour fast. Oh yea, and I dropped 6lb of water weight from yesterday to today. Woo! I’m marching on to that #40lbweightlossgoal #keto #ketomom #if #intermittentfasting

I’m so excited, I just got this photo from my team in Del Mar! A brand new @sunlightensaunas device is getting installed at my home in San Diego! I’ve been using them for 15 years and I have one in Malibu as well, but I cant wait to share it with my kids! There is nothing better to bring people together than a sauna. One of the things I do with my boys, is a family sauna session every night to have calm energy and sleep better. It helps anyone to sleep better!
