Not posted much recently because I’ve been sooo busy with work and training #priorities 💪🏻 But Have also had a few days too many days off plan and need to sort my consistent weight back out ready for my next fight next Sunday. 
So I thought I would do a post on how to bounce back from weight gain from the likes of a few days/ week off plan or a weekend binge. 
FIRSTYLY... the weight on the scales don’t always show a true representation of fat gain or fat loss... more how much water weight your body might be holding from excess salt in junk food or so on... So Here’s my 3 go to tips to get my weight back down within the week:
💧Drink plenty of water.. the best way to reduce water retention is to flush it out with even more water?!!
🧂Avoid salty foods and adding salt to any foods
🥜 Stick to lower carb & high protein meals and food for a few days. This should also any bloat you may be experiencing!

Berry smoothiebowl🍓🍒 Super quick and easy smoothiebowl! Topped it with my selfmade high-in-protein-chocolate granola! Also some fresh raspberries, hempseeds and cacao nibs🌟

Just blend a frozen banana, handfull of frozen berries, scoop of vegan vanilla protein powder, 100 grams of soy yoghurt and some almond/coconut milk. Place it in a bowl and top it with your likings❤️ Enjoy your day everyone!

I'm back in hospital! I called the IBD team yesterday as the pain on Sunday was through the roof and everytime I ate, I had to go to the toilet. I went 9 times - a new record! The IBD team advised to get a physical check so I went to our local urgent care centre who sent me straight to a consultant based unit at the hospital and they've kept me in. I've not got any infections, I am showing some inflammation, it seems clear that it's not related to my surgery and all signs point towards it being bowel related... Which I already knew! I didn't eat yesterday because I didn't want the pain to start up again but had something around 7pm which sent me straight to the toilet. This morning, the pains have been really strong but no toilet trips yet. I saw a gastro doctor not long ago and ahahhahhahahhahahhahaaaa they seem to think it's CROHNS!!!! Oh, and they've not checked them in full but my bloods seem clear on the vasculitis front!! They are flummoxed as to why my biopsies show ischemia but I am reacting in all other ways as if it was crohns. They did say the surgery may have also caused some ischemia. I'll be moved to the ward soon (in an acute medical unit at the moment), they are going to look at the results from my CT scan yesterday from a gastro point of view (as so far they are only showing inflammation in line with the surgery) and then I have to have a scope of the sigmoid colon area (they also mentioned something about not being able to see the left side when they did my colonoscopy last year, and the pain has been the worst there). I'm being put back on to Mebeverine for the spasms (which I came off of last year) instead of being pumped full of painkillers and steroids which could mask it all.... SO, this could be it kids! I may finally get that definitive diagnosis I've been chasing for so bloody long!!! Please keep everything crossed for me! I am so desperate to get back home to my boys but also not be in constant pain! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

A study came out last week showing that around 1/3 women at high risk of gestational diabetes (GDM) in England are not being screened. So here's some info to hopefully encourage pregnant women to ask for screening if they are at risk.

🤰GDM is high blood sugar levels that develop during pregnancy, typically in the 2nd half, and usually disappear after birth. The placenta produces hormones that raises your sugar levels and makes your body less sensitive to insulin. If your body is unable to compensate for this your blood sugar levels will rise. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤰If you have any of these risk factors you should be offered screening in the UK: BMI ≥30, a previous baby who weighed ≥4.5 kg at birth,  previous GDM, a family history of GDM, or South Asian, Chinese, African-Caribbean or Middle Eastern family ethnicity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤰How is it diagnosed? There are usually no symptoms which is why screening is so important. It should be discussed during your 1st antenatal appointment at 8-12 weeks. It's typically done with an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at 24-28 weeks- a blood test is taken in the morning when you have fasted overnight. You are then given a glucose drink, and after 2 hrs another blood sample is taken to see how your body is dealing with glucose.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤰Why is it important? Undiagnosed GDM can cause your baby to be larger than normal which might require induction/c-section. It can also increase your risk of premature birth, pre-eclampsia, your baby having low blood sugar/jaundice, and stillbirth. Whilst stillbirth is rare in this study at risk women who did not receive screening had nearly 50% higher risk of stillbirth compared to women without a risk factor.

🤰What is the treatment? Most women are advised of dietary changes and exercise, but the majority of women will need medication (antidiabetic tablets/insulin) . You will be given a kit to monitor your blood sugars at home, and you will be closely monitored during your pregnancy and birth. 6-13 weeks after giving birth you should have a blood test to check for ongoing diabetes, and every year after if the result is normal.

Stretching is hugely beneficial for balancing the mechanics of your body but which form of stretching is more important? Pre-workout or post-workout? ✨Pre-workout stretching✨
Stretching before your workouts helps your muscles, connective tissue and joints to warm up, giving you a greater range of motion. Pre-workout stretching helps increase your core temperature, which can make it easier for your muscles to perform. Before a workout, I recommend using dynamic stretching methods, such as arm and leg swings. This is because they keep your body moving continuously and prepare your body for the movements you’re about to do. Pre-workout stretching also tells your nervous system that it’s time to get moving so your coordination skills and heart rate can increase and your core muscle groups (such as the glutes, back muscles and abs) will start working for you. Regular dynamic stretching pre-workout can also help improve your performance, as your joints can become more flexible over time. ✨Post-workout stretching✨
Once you’ve done the hard work and finished your session, stretching helps you relax and cool down. Post-workout stretching is different because it focuses on lengthening your muscles. Following your workout, it’s a good idea to perform static stretches rather than dynamic ones. Static stretches are where you hold a position for 10 seconds or more, these help to loosen up your muscles. Static stretching also focuses on particular muscle groups, such as hip flexors and hamstrings, or other areas that may feel tight after working out. It’s also a good idea to go for a short walk as part of your cool down, as this can help slow your heart rate. Try to stretch for at least 5-10 minutes and be sure to stretch both sides of your body for an equal amount of time.

I know it’s hard to make time for stretching AND exercise, but it really does help keep your fitness on track. I’m a firm believer that stretching has a huge impact on your training, and can help develop better muscle condition. Hopefully now you'll have a better understanding of how to use both pre and post-workout stretching.

от причины, ПОЧЕМУ и КАК мы привязаны к еде.
предлагаю сегодня подумать над ВАШИМ типом питания! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

1️⃣ ЭМОЦИОНАЛЬНОЕ питание
⚜️ вы едите, когда вы чувствуете любое сильне чувство - не важно, хорошее или плохое. счастье, депресняк, одиночество, тревожность, усталость... вашим триггером может стать любая эмоция! (об этом ещё будем говорить)
2️⃣ НЕОСОЗНАННОЕ питание
⚜️ во время еды у вас всегда присутствует или телефон, или сериальчик/ фильм/ новости. бездумная болтовня за столом туда же. перекусы тоже.
и, кстати, питание «на ходу»/ за работой туда же!
3️⃣ СТРЕССОВОЕ питание
⚜️ ваше питание всегда сбивается во время сильного стресса - вы «заедаете» проблемы, находите успокоение и заботу в еде (особенно сладко-жирной и фаст-фуде)
4️⃣ «ВЕЧЕРНИЕ посиделки»
⚜️ вы едите мало в течении дня, но как только смеркается, вас не остановить! по приходу вечером домой/ в ресторан/ к друзьям вы съедаете 50% ваших дневных калорий
5️⃣ питание ПУСТОЙ ТАРЕЛКИ
⚜️ вы всегда доедаете свою еду. всегда. даже когда уже сыты. тарелка должна быть чистой.  потому что «еду не выбрасывают», «ты же хорошая девочка», «кто съел суп, тому конфету»
6️⃣ СКРЫТОЕ питание
⚜️ у вас есть заначки еды по разным местам, о которых никто не догадывается. честно говоря, вы стыдитесь своей еды...
7️⃣ питание ПОНЕДЕЛЬНИКА
⚜️ все приверженцы ПП - вам сюда. в течении недели вы железно придерживаетесь своей идеальной схемы питания. вы можете выдержать это все на силе воли, потому что знаете - придёт ОН. «читмил». день, когда можно всё. даже то, что вы бы просто так и не съели... но в выходные можно и оторваться, правда?

Stop over complicating healthy eating 🍓

With the rise of all these low carb, vegan, gluten free, sugar free, keto or paleo products it can be quite overwhelming to figure out WHAT CAN I ACTUALLY EAT 🙈 .
.
1) Just because your fav health blogger is eating a low carb diet, doesn’t mean you have to do the same! Find what works for your body and energy levels. Remember food = fuel ❤️ .
.
2) Sugar or fruit are not the enemy! They form part of a healthy, SUSTAINABLE diet! If you never allow yourself a chocolate or your grandma’s famous cookies, how are you going to sustain a healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life? And fruit is full of amazing vitamins and micronutrients, don’t deprive your body of its goodness 🍉

3) Bread will NOT make you fat. To be honest no single food will make you gain weight. An overconsumption of calories will however (even too much chickpeas and beetroot can) I eat bread almost every day and I absolutely thrive on it 🥖

4) Just eat more WHOLE foods! Easy as that. Eat more fruit & veg, whole grains and protein! Try to choose snacks without long lists of ingredients you can’t pronounce and don’t be scared to treat yourself every now and again. This will definitely help to maintain healthy habits in the long term 🌱

Last week I went down with a cold. Pretty normal and annoying event for most people but for me this was huge. I haven’t had a proper cold since September 2015. I remember it because it floored me badly just before I was due to go on a residential Fatigue Management course. Since then I’ve had the occasional snuffle and lots of sore throats and swollen glands but no actual cold. When I first went on the Optimum Health Clinic’s programme they mentioned the impact that CFS/ME has on our immune system and said that getting a cold after a long cold free period was a really good sign and should be celebrated. Being me I wanted to know the science behind this claim! I hunted through their videos on YouTube and found their video on CFS/ME treatment - the immune system. 
Basically during CFS/ME the immune system can get skewed. It fails to react to infections that arrive from outside but instead develops sensitivity to things like food and toxins. This is exactly what has happened to me. Food intolerances and histamine intolerance feature highly in my symptoms alongside the whole no cold thing. So getting a cold is a sign that things are shifting. Something feels like it might be finally clicking. I have no clue which of the range of supplements has helped or which of the endless tools I use. Or whether it’s down to my diet or even the chiropractor adjustments I’ve been having. There’s a reason bananas gave Eric superpowers and turned him into Bananaman 🦸‍♂️💥. Bananas are up there in my top 10 foods. I find they are an amazing energy source whether I’m working out or just need some quick fuel. I have one smeared with a bit of peanut butter before an early morning workout, whizz them into protein shakes, mix them with yoghurt and granola, use them in baking as a egg replacer or my favourite, smashed up on wholegrain toast. Bananas seem to divide opinion though. My husband can’t stand them but my daughter loves them so much her first word was “nana”. Some women have a #tipped or #tilted uterus, in which the uterus is tipped backwards toward the back of the pelvis.

A tipped uterus may occur for several reasons including:
1) Congenitally: Meaning some women are born with a tipped uterus
2) Childbirth: Childbirth can tip the uterus forward or backward. If the ligaments holding the uterus in place stretch, or lose their tension during pregnancy, the uterus can become tipped. In most cases, the uterus returns to a forward position after childbirth.
3) Scarring from adhesions as a result of Fibroids or endometriosis.

Symptoms:
-Pain during sexual intercourse or dyspareunia.
-Pain during menstruation or dysmenorrhea.

A tipped uterus may occur for several reasons including: 1) Congenitally: Meaning some women are born with a tipped uterus 2) Childbirth: Childbirth can tip the uterus forward or backward. Nail the basics first.
Improve your mobility.
Practice the movements...over and over and over and over again.
Then maybe add a little bit of weight to the bar.
Then maybe a little more.

Too many people are trying to run before they can even walk 😅

I did it early in my training career - I threw a bunch of weight on my back and half squatted the shit out of it 🤦🏽‍♀️ Then I got a coach (@consciouscreationproj ) who helped me strip things back and helped me nail my main lifts.

It takes time, consistency, practice and patience. Stay the course.
I guarantee you’ll have a much better training career, improve your strength and get much better results in the long run if you follow the above method.

And...if you have no idea what you’re doing, hire a coach. It’s an investment in yourself, your body and your health ❤️

✔️Записывайте их в секции, бегайте с ними вместе 🏃
✔️Не перекармливайте! Не надо доедать до чистой тарелки, если ребенок не хочет 🤦

‼️ Заниматься сосудами надо  пока вы молоды. Не дожидаясь когда грянет гипертония, инфаркт и прочие сосудистые катастрофы.

Let's break down the new study that has re-surfaced the egg-yolk-heart disease myth 👇

• It was observational, so it can not prove cause and effect.
• It was based on self-reported data through 'diet recall' - not sure about you, but it’s hard for me remember what I ate this morning let alone a month or a year ago.
• There was no diet recall follow up - so it was assumed that the diets didn't change at all for the next ~17 years.
• There was no control for other factors that contribute to heart issues like exercise, alcohol, stress, smoking etc.
• The results described the relationship between eggs and heart disease as ‘modest’, so the authors themselves acknowledge the relationship wasn't strong.

Egg yolks contain an abundance of vitamins and minerals that the egg white doesn’t have; & yes! It contains cholesterol - but cholesterol in food DOES not increase cholesterol in our blood. That is a myth!👋
Nutrient found in WHOLE eggs:
✔️ Cholesterol: Hormone production, cell integrity, helps fat digestion
✔️ Vitamin B12: Red blood cell formation, bone health & happy hormone development
✔️ Calcium: Healthy bones, muscle contraction & nerve signalling

Healthy fats 🥑🍳🥗 Any part of a healthy diet should have some unsaturated healthy fats (avocado, salmon, egg yolk, nuts, olive oil etc.). These are higher in calories but are so beneficial. They also don’t spike insulin like carbs do, so they don’t spike your blood sugar! I find healthy fats satiates me longer as they are calorie dense, but also nutrient dense keeping me fuller for longer, and I don’t feel like snacking.
This is one of the main reasons healthy fats are better to consume to break your fast - hence why they’re a popular breakfast food! - there are quite a few findings and science on this topic that I might put into a blog post in the future.

BEETROOT RASPBERRY SMOOTHIE  2 ripe bananas
1 cup | 120 gr. raspberries
100 gr. raw peeled beetroot
2 cups | 500 ml. almond milk (or any plantbased milk)
2 medjoul dates, pitted
2 tsp flax seeds

Add all of the ingredients to your blender and blend for a minute or two (depending on how powerful your blender is!) BENEFITS OF BEETROOT
Rich in magnesium and iron.
Betaine is the active ingredient in beetroot, it is an anthocyanin which give beetroot it’s colour. That is also what give beetroot it’s therapeutic antioxidants and anti inflammatory properties. 
Choline is the precursor molecule for betaine which aids in liver function and detoxification within the body

I took a social media hiatus during finals & now I’m soaking in the first few days of spring break to just enjoy “normal” life.

Shoulder day! (Sorry for my crazy-ass faces 🤪)

🏋🏻‍♀️Before starting this program I didn’t even know shoulders were a whole group of their own and you should dedicate an entire workout to them lmao reason number 628286 why I’m so glad I found it!

💦Today’s workout incorporated shoulder lifting exercises with hiit intervals. These are some of my fave moves!

CHANGE... Spring is in the air.

I used to love old films where the transitions between seasons would be used to signify passages of time.

As someone with chronic illness who’s currently living in a flare, it can be easy to see the similarities between those movies and your life. This year I have, at times, felt this very keenly. When I wasn’t able to continue with university everyone around me kept moving. My peers from high school graduated at the end of last year too so I’ve seen them move on in a whole different way as well.

Meanwhile... I’ve been in survival mode, just trying to keep the smile firmly on my face and get to the end of the week without an extra Doctors visit, all while watching the seasons pass, with very little personal growth or change.

Before you think this post is just me having a pity party, I promise it’s not as, I had an epiphany today.

I don’t have to stay on the treadmill I’ve allowed my life to become. Let me say that again, I don’t have to stay on the treadmill I’ve allowed my life to become, and you don’t either!!! I see so many posts and hear so many people talk about I’m not happy with this... or I don’t like that, well change it then! None of us have to live in a way that no longer serves us! Before I get comments saying but I really can’t change something that’s upsetting me. I get it not EVERYTHING can be changed. I guarantee you, you can do something that will make a difference. Just please, PLEASE don’t allow yourself to be a victim of your own life. In true insta words “You’ve been given the mountain to show others that it can be moved.” I agree, move the mountain but more importantly find a way to enjoy doing it. 💛
