My kid loves the StoryBots on Netflix One day he started pretending his crayons were Beep, Boop, Bing, Bang, and Bo. His heart would break along with the crayons when they would snap in his extra tightly wadded fists.
I can't find any toys sold. I didn't let that deter me. I bought colored tape and googley eyes, and fashioned the 5 bots from plastic containers and cardboard tubes. I didn't expect him to love them as much as he did. He would grab them all in his arms and carry them everywhere he went.
One by one they started to fall apart, so I searched YouTube and found some sewing videos. I went to The Michaels Companies, Inc. and bought some felt, puffy paint, thread, and sewing needles.
I fumbled my way around making 5 new stuffed Storybots. They looked terrible. I was even a little embarrassed to show my 4 year old, but I did.
He loves them, sleeps with them, shows his friends, and strangers.
He is my biggest cheerleader. I've learned so many amazing lessons from him about using your imagination, living in the moment, unconditional love, and forgiveness. I try so damn hard to live up to being the person he thinks I am. He makes me better.
The privilege of being his father is pretty awesome. I know a lot of dads feel the same.
