Your personal mindset is the most important factor in determining whether you will accomplish your goals. Sometimes we try to protect ourselves by minimizing the goal, or characterizing it as difficult so we won’t feel as bad in case we fail. But that kind of thinking just ensures our failure. .
I had a struggle with this just yesterday. I have made it my goal to stay positive and grateful, despite any silly little things that might try to bring me down. Since adopting this mindset, my kids are actually feeding off my positivity, and have been behaving much better. But then they had an off day, the whining and complaining started up, and it was like the nails on a chalkboard kinda sound, and I couldn’t take it!!! I got upset and started to yell, and started to think, “I can’t do this when they act like this!” But then I caught myself. I have stayed positive despite some bad behaviors before, and I can do it again. I just needed to take a deep breath, regroup in my happy place, and recover my patience. I can do this, no one but me affects me, and I am the master of my emotions, not my kids! .
Can any of you relate to this??
