The indelible kupal of epal: this ambulance, bought with citizens' money, still advertises Gloria Macapagal Arroyo -- after two presidential administrations, approximately a decade, several corruption and electoral cheating cases, and years of house arrest. The tiny alleged crook is now free and ascendant again, and this ambulance is still around, announcing: "GMA CARES." The ambulance came from a government of Filipino people, not her. Is it any wonder we have personality based politics, and fanatically treat our candidates the way we do our sports teams? Our leaders are now in their 90s, 80s, 70s, celebrated for the basic things they're supposed to do, and unpunished for all those things they weren't supposed to do. We can't get rid of them, they're untouchable in their impunity. No wonder we have no young blood, no youthful leaders filled with idealism, and free of dynastic compromises between family and country. Does this look like democracy to you?
