A wise friend gave me a helpful tip for those trying moments of motherhood:
Look at their little hands.
Seeing tiny and precious hands reminds you of how little they are. They are tiny humans needing grace.
Sometimes, when it feels so frustrating and they are crying/whining/screaming/yelling/disobeying, that moment feels all consuming. When it feels like you're in some tantrum vortex and there's no way out, try to stop and remember their hands.
I've done this a few times and often I see something else in their hands. Usually they are wringing them or moving them in stressful motions. It's a good reminder of their tender hearts. Their big emotions are still being figured out. We are the guides. We can be the calm. We can show the love and grace of God to our precious little loves.
Because believe me, He does the same with us. When we are disobeying, off on the wrong track, insisting we do it our way, He is there loving us and patiently helping us, too.
Ask the Lord to help you. Look down at their hands and then look up to your Heavenly Father and ask for His help. If you need someone else to pray with you too, just let me know!! - 17 hours ago
