“And I taste fresh air
like today is already full of triumph.”
It takes everything we have to stop orienting life around how other people perceive us. It takes a death of the old life to change how we bend everything about ourselves to fit other people. It takes sheer survival & nothing else to move from who we were to who we are.
And we are never finished with evolving.
Who we are in this exact moment isn’t it. We haven’t arrived. We’re still a mess, we make mistakes, we face codependency, we hope for the best from people who are just as human, we have moments of complete & utter despair.
Change is when we stop shaming ourselves for it.
Everyone deserves the dignity of their own human experience. Our failures, our triggers, our screwed up attempts at navigating a life we can’t interpret is just the experience of being human. What really matters is how we move forward from every step backwards. Do we move with humility, with self awareness, with compassion & empathy? Do we choose the hard road when it’s the best road? Do we grasp hope like it’s the guard rail between love & fear? Do we show up even when we’re exhausted & depleted? Do we do the work even when we’re terrified of what we might find buried in our hearts?
When life feels like all sharp corners we gravitate back to the truth we know will shape us: the universe is always saying yes & we, in our humanity, are just learning to ask better questions.
If after all this time you doubt your ability to rise back up after the pain, you’ve forgotten that acceptance is alchemy.
Accepting both the light & the dark in you is what transforms pain into healing, despair into hope, questions into answers.
Listen badass, grab ahold of your own human experience, of your own creative acts of sacred rebellion, & of your own hell yes. Do whatever it takes to stand whole and alive in the aftermath of any & every shitstorm.
Ask better questions of the universe & write the kind of story that leaves you fully alive with hope. You’re the only one who can. - 2 hours ago
