Here are the origins of Valentine’s Day, I think they are rather special. Not to mention that today also happens to be my birthday! Turning 28 today and I feel a little old!🤭 If anyone wants to do something special for me on this day, I would appreciate more than anything for your prayers that God will soon bless me with my first child!🏻 I hope you all have a lovely day!️ .
“St. Valentine was a brave and dedicated Christian in a time of great persecution. According to the Nuremberg Chronicle, he risked the wrath of the Emperor by standing up for traditional marriage and secretly marrying soldiers to their brides, even though Claudius II had banned traditional marriage in the military. But Valentine got into trouble again with the state for converting people to Christianity and to the love of Jesus Christ. He even attempted to convert Claudius to Christianity. This attempt enraged Claudius. Saint Valentine was arrested, dragged before the Prefect of Rome, and condemned to die. Right before his execution on February 14, as a last act of communication with the outside world, Saint Valentine wrote a note to the judge’s daughter whom he had healed, and signed it, “from your Valentine.” .
In the High Middle Ages, Geoffrey Chaucer, the father of English literature, wrote Parliament of Foules (c.1393). In this work he explains that birds chose their mates in mid-February: “For this was Saint Valentine’s day, when every bird of every kind that men can imagine comes to this place to choose his mate.” After this work by Chaucer, literature began associating Saint Valentine’s day with courtly love, and the impact continues today.” Excerpt from St. Valentine: The Man Who Died for the Sake of Love, Altar and Throne. #valentinesday #valentines #stvalentines #stvalentinesday #vday #tradcat #catholic #catholicism #love #birthday #me #self #bluegreeneyes #lovefolk #catholicculture #europeanmerican #culture #tradition #heritage #tradcat #tradlife #valentine #revoltagainstthemodernworld #feminine #femininity #motherhood #traditionallife #traditionalwoman #girly #stvalentine - 4 days ago
