A #FlexFriday about #Cardio ?! 🤭😱😜Yesssss... Cardio during contest prep vs offseason cardio 💪 I had a great discussion yesterday with @canttouchdis22 my long time friend and incredible personal trainer about our clients and athletes who we prep to compete and the role cardio plays 🤔 the most important takeaway I felt was this... People fit into one of three groups - prepping(cutting), maintaining, or bulking(growing) and the biggest issue is when cardio isn’t allocated correctly based on your goals, especially the last group.  If you are trying to put on muscle in the offseason and grow so that when you get back on stage your physique has improved, how does maintaining the amount of cardio you did during prep help? It doesn’t and is counterintuitive.  You are going to put on muscle and some fat when you are growing or bulking, and doing tons of cardio will only impede your bodies ability to make gains because you risk burning off the muscle you are trying to grow.  You can’t send your body mixed signals like “hey let’s makes gains!” and also tell it “hey let’s get ripped!” Just some food for thought and hopefully this helps those of you who have questions about the amount of cardio your should be doing based on your goals 💯 #CardioProblems #CardioisHardio #BPITips #BPISports #TeamBPI #BPIAthlete @bpi_sports @xsportfitness

Coming at you with another classic, resistance banded dumbbell press. Very much needed especially if the gym you’re training at only has 100lbs. .

Well that’s because this is an old school exercise that people rarely do anymore, they just use machines... but don’t be like the masses... if you haven’t tried this, do it 💯 your hamstrings will thank me later 😏

My #BPITips for the week is all about training abs 💯 Try to choose weighed abdominal exercises over crunches or sit-ups to see improvement in density and an increase definition 💪 One of my go to abdominal exercises is barbell roll outs, really focusing on slowly rolling out and feeling the stretch, followed by contracting the abs and bringing them barbell back 🤗 if you haven’t done this before, start using a wheel or lighter weighted bar and work up to increasing the weight, doing 4 sets of 12 🖤 #abs #sixpack

With holidays right around the corner it’s super important to stay on track with the gym and watching what I eat.

Honestly, when I get people asking what I eat/how I prep my meals/how many calories I consume a day ect.. I never lie.

I don’t. I don’t count my calories. I don’t prep my meals in containers every week. I don’t know exactly how many calories I’m consuming.
.
What I do know is I don’t eat crap. I know what I’m eating is going to be beneficial for me and my body.
.
You will never see me sitting in the drive thru line at McDonald’s 🤷🏽‍♀️ sorry!

When you have a general idea of what you’re putting into your body and know that it’s not a bunch of sh*t.. then.. Yes. You bet you can have those couple of beers/glasses of wine a couple days out of the week. Or those Reece’s that you love so much.. or is that just me 😂💁🏽‍♀️

1) Stop being afraid of fat .

2) use ketobomb as your coffee creamer and ditch other creamers full of sugar and chemicals .

3) eat a whole foods diet that is specific to you , based on your activity level, schedule , intolerances , loves , needs etc. .
4) hydrate .
5) Get your proper sleep in .
6) keep active and don’t be a couch potato , get your weights in and conditioning/cardiovascular workouts in — both are important .

As you all know, I am fasting this month like a lot of people all over the world. I am at the end of my bulk and start prep in July. Weight loss is unavoidable this month, but I want to limit the amount of muscle I lose. When performing any type of Row you can target so many different parts of the back. Mind to muscle connection can be tough because you can't visually see it. The movements all starts right from your grip, elbow positioning, and posture. What might look like a simple exercise of just pulling weight certainly isn't if you want results! You want to pull the weight with your back first and then pull with your arms. Strapping up can help as the back is a huge muscle group so anything to help you lift more weight is a PLUS! Secondly being more explosive on the concentric and slowing down the rep on the eccentric has worked well for me! Make sure on the eccentric you allow your back to fully stretch. In order to get a full contraction make sure you have a very slight curve in your back, and last but not least move with the weight. Don't be afraid to sway a little bit this allows more weight to be transferred to your back instead of your arms taking the weight.

2 Exercises from today Chest workout! Never do I perform the exact same workout twice, something will always be different wether it's the rep ranges, set amounts or TUT.
FLOOR PRESSES
This worked perfectly by placing the DB I wanted to use on top of the other one to get started.. I then make sure to keep the weight slow and controlled throughout the movement really emphasizing the squeeze at the top by pretending you are touching your elbows together!
DB PULLOVER
Love this exercise for stretching out the chest, abs and helps with rib cage expansion. keep hands crossover the dumbbell on your way down control the weight and a slight bend in the elbows is okay, drop your hips on the way down. While raising the weight up you pull your hips up with it and pretend your again touching your elbows together and really squeeze the chest at the top.

SMITH MACHINE V-BAR ROW💯
.
1. Load the bar to an appropriate weight for your training. Put V attachment around the smith bar and bend at the hips, using grips or straps is recommended so that your back can take more of the load. 
2. Ensure that your back remains flat, letting the bar hang at arms length. This will be your starting position.
3. Perform the movement by flexing the elbows and retracting the shoulder blades, pulling the weight to your lower abdomen.
4. Squeeze at the top of the motion, return to the starting position.
Repeat 5 sets x 12-15 Reps

How many times have you given into your excuses!?? Answer this honestly? 
Your too tired? Your sore? Your traveling and it's hard to workout! Your working late. There is always Something that will come up and challenge you. It's like the universes way of testing your strength to either give in! Or find a way!! --
I'm over excuses.. You either want something so bad.. Or you kind of want it. And kind of.. Gets you nowhere!  Why are you waiting!? Don't wait for a new year to make a new year resolution. Do it now! Or at least start. So many people start resolutions only to fail 2 weeks later.. Why? What stops you from continuting? Was it not important enough? Or did you let that little voice in your head win! I think part of the reasons we fail to succeed is that we don't make realistic goals and stretch yourself to thin.

For example. I'm going to workout 5 times a week! And eat strictly healthy. And prior to this were eating junk daily, and hardly exercising. Sounds legit right? 
Firstly I would commit to at least 3 times a week and slowly progressivly increase this untill you feel your capable of more. Most of the time, people start a fitness regime and go hard for 2 weeks and then get sore or let excuses get the better of them. And slowly taper off them and come to a complete stop! 
This is the moment you fall off. So be realistic.. Be real and honest to yourself, and own up to when you are making those excuses. I garantee you will be able to maintain your goals and actually achieve them. And it will eventually be your amazing Lifestyle🙏
