The Ebc trek cannot be called completed if we don't mention the Kalapathar hike. It was the steepest and difficult climb even though it was of a short distance where we can the massive mountain ranges
While we were celebrating our joy of being in the Everest base camp, after the dinner our guide came to brief as usual about the next day.. This time it was the Kalapathar climb where you get the chance to get a closer view of Everest in its golden glory when the sun casts it's early morning rays.
To my surprise he conveniently decided that I would skip the climb next day and kept asking me again and again if I wanted to come for sure when I insisted on coming.. The early morning 4.30 we started our climb in chilling minus degree climate in the dark. I can't even say how difficult the climb was for the first 15 minutes where I could feel my heart coming out where I struggle to catch my breath.. For a moment I doubted if I should have listened to our guide last night and even thought of going back.
But my strong will somewhere was not letting me do that and I decided to climb up..somehow I crossed that moment and everything seemed light and I started climbing hopping from one stone to another.
Yeah.. of the three people who decided to do the climb Charit, Deepu and myself.. I was the first to reach the top.. (filled with pride and showing it off too.. I know..it's not a big deal, still)... A light snowfall at the summit and a deep unending abyss behind, extreme cold chilling to our bones and the panoramic view of Everest along with other mighty mountains behind the clouds ..Yeah a day worth a post
