Break the Cycle!
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which first began in 1981 as a way of unity to connect battered women's advocates across the country.
Domestic violence affects millions, both women and men, of every race, religion, culture and status. It’s not just punches and black eyes -- it’s yelling, humiliation, stalking, manipulation, coercion, threats and isolation.
TFPD patrol vehicle #4460 (purple police car) was created to support those victims of domestic violence and bring awareness to our community.
During the month of October Chief Kingsbury has authorized our officers to wear purple shirts under their uniforms to show support for the victims and raise awareness.
