Keep the spine straight and your butt engaged (really, all of your muscles engaged)! If you don't, you might try to become a doctor 🏼⚕️
Having piss poor form is why I decided to go to school for another 5 years! I jacked my back up lifting improperly, and it hurt to bend over for over a week. I went to a Chiropractor, and he nerded out on me about the anatomy and biomechanics of the spine and how the entire body effects the spine and vice versa. I loved it and wanted to make a career out of it.
I figured physical therapy could make me more money and would have better security, so I tried going that route. I was quite the punk kid my first years of college, got some bad grades, and couldn't get in to PT school for at least another year while I took classes to increase my GPA (I had taken and gotten As and BS in all prerequisites, gotten As where I had originally gotten Fs, but doors kept closing for me to go into PT. Thankfully so, too, since my dad was having health issues that year, so starting school and taking care of that stuff would've been impossible). .
I worked part time for @integratedrehabmt watching @ptnomad (DPT) and @jeremy (DC) do their thing, and they practiced very similar techniques and ways to help people improve their lives. So, I thought I'd apply to just one chiropractic school in @jessicasimonton 's and my favorite state to visit - #SC . Chiropractic is what had gotten me into that field anyways, and it's what intrigued me most out of everything; so If I got in, great, if not, I might need to rethink my career path... Well, first quarter is coming to an end and I am so glad that things happened the way they did. This was a last ditch effort to stay in the field of the human body, and it was by far the best option for me and the most exciting and interesting to me. .
Soooo, the moral of the story is: have proper lifting technique or you might end up spending massive amounts of time and money trying to become a Doctor of Chiropractic
(And, this is my 1 rep max at my favorite lift! Just take my word for it since it only looks like a couple hundred pounds #345 . Tryin to get to 400!) - 5 days ago
