MONEY with your HONEY .
This week we are talking allll about MONEY & RELATIONSHIPS . How to talk about it in a new relationship, when to combine finances with your partner, how to find common ground on money disagreements, and so on! 🏻🏻🏻
I truly feel and believe that financial intimacy is a CRUCIAL part of any relationship. So many people focus on physical intimacy, emotional intimacy, spiritual intimacy, etc in a relationship but don’t realize the HUGE impact that financial intimacy has on their journey as a couple. Many studies show that money fights and problems are the #1 cause of divorce today... so the relationship that you and your partner have with money and how it’s handled among you MATTERS.
I can’t have this discussion this week without giving a shout out to Mr. Purposeful Penny himself. We haven’t done it perfect, and we for SURE did not go the traditional route by going against what most people tell you to do when handling money as a couple... but we did what worked for us and have been a team throughout it all and accomplished some pretty amazing things TOGETHER.
We’ve paid off close to $100,000 of debt TOGETHER
We’ve cashed flowed my MBA TOGETHER
We’ve paid for an engagement ring, wedding, and honeymoon TOGETHER
We’ve bought 2 homes TOGETHER We’ve saved TOGETHER
We’ve paid for trips TOGETHER
It can be easy to get sucked into the trap as a couple of what’s going WRONG with your finances. You’re not seeing eye to eye always (happens to us...). You feel like you’re not making as much progress as you should (also happens to us). BUT... I would encourage you to also look back and be proud of all you’ve accomplish together because you did it as one unit, as a TEAM and you’ve come far!🏻
So, tag your hubby or honey and let them know you love them and you’re proud of all you’ve accomplished! And shout it out to! What are you most proud of that you and your partner have been able to accomplish financially? 🏻
P.S. I love this picture from our wedding because Ryan was DONE taking photos. I remember he whispered in my ear “can we go eat now?”
