Ohhh this place will always be home to me. 💚

Gearing up to lead two absolutely magical 6-day photography trips on the Isle of Skye in SCOTLAND this May, with my fellow co-leaders (and talented artists) @mydetoxtravel and @charlottelittlewolf! We have just a couple spaces left for those who are interested in joining. 😉 If you happen to be keen you can find more information through the link on my profile... We so can't wait to roam around the highlands once again (seriously one of my favourite places in the world) and to share our photography knowledge and love of adventure with you! 😁💕

Throwback to this perfect morning, waking up to a September chill in the air, hiking down the mountains in the 6am fog and stopping to capture this moment of quiet. 😊

A couple weeks ago I had the extreme pleasure of meeting up with @morgan.love for a photoshoot. As an introvert who doesn't shoot for clients very often (I'm always more used to expressing my own soul through my work... so to capture a client's personality, as silly as it sounds, often feels quite daunting to me), I was so pleasantly delighted to come away from this shoot having made a beautiful new friend and created some of my favourite work to date, all within under 2 hours. Little things like this are always a bit of a wakeup call to me - magical things really do happen with each push from the comfort zone. 😊 💕

Journal excerpt jotted down between a minor workload panic attack and a first cup of coffee: “Maybe I worry over the unimportant. Maybe what counts the most, and is most meaningful in the long run, is to be present with what’s at hand – whether that’s friends, family, or myself (perhaps most importantly myself sometimes). Perhaps just as important as working hard, is to let it be. To find that balance, if there is one, and to not worry when I fall short on either side. Let it be. When I look at the stars, I imagine they don’t fret about a messy desk-space and due workloads. They are just present, waiting to be marveled at, worlds so much bigger than our own. And in this reflection, the realization that our own world of being still exists in the presence of so much greater – is that not something to marvel at also? To be alive, surrounded by stars. The worries suddenly feel small. And maybe we feel small ourselves, but damn, we’re here. So let’s be here and dance.”

Truth be told: I suck at goal making. And goal keeping. Grand ideas of success terrify me - if any of those plans start going sideways, I internally panic. If I have too much going on that I can't get done, I get extremely anxious. Maybe this is why I've never made big goals in the past few years - I prefer to go through life with no huge expectations, and just accept and live for the surprises around each corner. It keeps me more present. It keeps me happier. I'm one of those weird people that do better with no plan (or spontaneous open-planning at most) and no solid routine. And I super admire people who do have the knack for goal keeping and routines. Sometimes I catch myself comparing my choices to other people's grand schemes, goals and successes and I start to question my own. Silly though. We're all so different. My mantra for much of last year was "Be here now", but towards the end of the year it turned to "Let it be". I'm realizing more that it's okay if things go sideways and I can't stay on top of my plans. My worth is not measured by my productivity, I tell myself that over and over. Don't get me wrong, I do definitely have goals for 2019, and I plan to work hard for them... but if and when things fall apart, my real goal is to not worry about it anymore. To let it be. Because when I think ahead to what I hope to remember from 2019, I don't think it will be the completion of ideas and goals. What will I remember in 10, 20, 50 years from now? I think it will be the memories that come from simply loving and living presently. Okay, I'm done barfing out my rambling thoughts for now. One thing I know for sure -
I'm pretty excited to live this year. 🙈 💚

I probably take way too many sunrise self-portraits in this lake, but I keep finding myself going back - always drawn in by the stillness and silence. No two mornings here have ever been the same... Yet all have been transcendent.

Currently on my way home after a few days in Vermont and NYC. The city experience is a whole different world to me, and exciting as it is, I almost feel like I can't get home fast enough to my foggier, rainier, and all around naturey-er (is that a word?) elements. Feeling more and more grateful to be able to live in a place I truly love, and equally grateful to have opportunities to experience other places that deepen my perception of the world and appreciation for everything I once took for granted. 💕

What about you fine folks, do you consider yourself more of a city slicker or a nature hermit? 😎
