Dazatronyx

Pedal designs by Darron, in Australia.

I’ve been wanting to do these for... forever. But first I’ve had to work out a comfortable protocol to make the acid etch plates and cast aluminium wedge enclosures at home.

Believe me. There are hundreds of pieces of scraps lying around to get this first result.
More info on these sort of builds coming. I’m working on it. Expect a two knob Germanium Amplifier also. Point to point construction on amplifier tag strip. But they will cost a mini fortune, so don’t get too excited.

Drawn by @shaunklinger for our recent project past. Did you know... that we put him on the circuit board with silver goggles. And he has metal goggles on the enclosures too. That’s all I have to say about FuzzBee.

Brisbanians! I’m super excited to announce that we’ve partnered with @tymguitars in Fortitude Valley, who are stocking all of the Dazatronyx pedals right now.

So if you’ve been wanting to try anything out, please stop in and say hi :D

All the FuzzBee units sold out within half an hour of opening sales. Shaun and I would like to express our gratitude for all the love that we received on this project!

Update: all sold!

This is a recreation of the vintage classic fuzz booster from Roland’s era of great analog guitar pedals. Using NOS Japanese transistors found in the original fuzz section plus high-quality Japanese capacitors. This captures the sound and look of the original and places it in a pedalboard friendly enclosure.

This is a collaborative work with guitarist and pedal builder @shaunklinger. We will be releasing a total of 10x units to the public and that will be all.

Old photo. You use a guitar pick to adjust the bias pot on the side of this Tsuchi Fuzz.

Finally getting some cool, damp days in #Melbourne

Completing the Stereo Panning Optical Tremolo feels like a dream now. It only took the entirety of my adult life :S

Yonks back I helped @shaunklinger with building some Roland BeeBaas. There’s been so many requests that we decided we have to bring them back one more time.

Boxes have been prep’d and drilled. I’m meeting with Shaun in the new week to start assembling these, so they will be ready to sell very soon. We’re building just under a dozen, and they will not be continuing after that. All Japanese capacitors, so expect a juicy gut-shot in the future, as well as pricing and purchasing info, and demos etc.

What’s happening in R&D?
I’m slowly building a couple of Tone Bender MKIIs. They will be point-to-point on tagstrip. Acid etching the plates for the top was holding me back for... forever.

Finished the harmonic tremolo up, but decided I want another board revision. This had a 4 mode rotary switch which I will reduce to 3x modes. That will reduce a heap of crazy FET switching and extra relays used. The modes will be standard trem, harmonic trem, and wide-harmonic which sounds like a trem and a phaser has a baby. I’m more confident now that the new board will be my final commercial-ready build. This circuit is just too complicated to reliably breadboard anymore, so the easiest way is to just design a circuit board layout, build it, and progress from there.

#lifegoals

I’ll be starting to make the Beebaa clones enclosures probably next week to assemble with @shaunklinger . Very keen to get those out to everyone interested. Be prepared for Japanese capacitors and transistors, and other fancy-arse cool-looking $h!t.

The FuzzBee (BeeBaas) with @shaunklinger are progressing closer in the queue. We’re going to do about ten and then that’ll be it. Thanks to everyone who expressed interest so far :)

@shaunklinger and I are officially teaming up for another special project. For everybody who’s been asking: we are reissuing (bootlegging?) the Roland BeeBaa. It’ll only be a small and quick batch of 10x units.

I’ve already started gathering all the cool Japanese parts. More info as it comes. I’ll show off the enclosure artwork at least.

Haven’t posted in ages, so here’s something I started forever-ago which I hope to finish this year! No information. Since it’s taken forever (so far) I don’t want to say anything too early. Just pedal-porn/eye candy. Happy Sunday!
