Daring To Rest

Our mission is to take back rest. We serve the rest medicine of #yoganidra and train Daring to Rest facilitators to spark a rest revolution.

Have you been dreaming lately? Dreams have the power to strip us of our old life and show us a new life. But dreams need incubation time. To incubate a dream we must rest deeply to create space for the dream; this is how dream messages arrive from the divine realm. Busy doesn’t hear dreams. Busy doesn’t find the hidden messages. That’s the true ugliness of busy. When we slow down, the drama of the dream unfolds and we can begin to trace the pathology of our lives...we see the blind spots. Through the deep rest of yoga nidra we dream and gain freedom. Make different choices. We step out of the shadows and become the heroine of our lives. Old stories no longer have power over us. The dream frees the heart and this frees your whole self to heal, be healthier than ever, and peaceful. Imagine that.

Are you worth 15-20 minutes of rest?

This month’s Daring to Rest Sleep Series is out and all three yoga nidra meditations are 15-20 minutes. They’re called - short nidras for busy women.

I created this series because I know how many times I say “no” to taking a nidra nap when I’m busy. I’m the queen of “I’ll do it later when I have time” – which of course is never, right?

Fifteen to twenty minutes of yoga nidra is often my sweet spot, where I’ll say YES to REST.

That’s why the nidras in this series are short and so doable to practice: => as a mid-day nap (at work, in between errands or before getting the kids) => to get to sleep and get back to sleep in the night => to wake up and practice to start the day centered and focused 
Rest is like a muscle. The more we practice, the more rested we feel on all levels.

So my question again to you is: are you worth 15-20 minutes of rest?

REST IS HEALING.

You rest one day, but the next you may not rest, and suddenly it’s been years without deep rest. So you do whatever you can to keep going: coffee, sweets, carbs. You become a slave to fatigue, because although you know your body craves rest, you don’t rest. After a while you have doubts. You say, “Am I even capable of resting? I cannot live without doing. What if someone else gets further ahead in work, mothering...life?”

Now imagine you are taught a new way, that rest is healing, and that you have not lost the art of rest. Your well-rested woman can always be reclaimed. So you lay down, take off the rest armor, and heal - deeply. Your soul thanks you for the attention. And your body does too. She stops begging for rest through sickness and unhealthy relationships. Your rest needs have been met. Imagine that.

But the changes we make in response to the challenges to rest are what make you a Well-Rested Woman. The fierce commitment to expand and take the risk to seek refuge no matter what build rest memory. We’ve got a long way to go, but the growing number of people talking about rest didn’t arise by accident. There is a kind of inevitability about the revival of rest. Rest answers our questions that have existed in our subconscious mind for years before finding the right expression. What is my identity? Values? Worth? Rest is tied to all of this, and more. Rest gently reintroduces us to belonging. How might I feel like I belong?

Pompom shakes to our new Academy Rest Sister Helen, a yoga and Qigong teacher in Oregon, for showing us how she’s getting her Daring to Rest “homework” done as Tribe 3 journeys through our 9-week Daring to Rest Yoga Nidra training.😴 We’re learning the Rest phase - an excellent time to practice Yoga Nidra outside on the earth. (Or if it’s too cold, go to your floor with blankets!).

We can talk about mindfulness and being more aware and feeling enough and more worthy within ourselves and for our children forever, but there’s got to be a space to birth this - deep rest is the birthing space...the honey starts flowing the moment we invest in rest. 🍯 And when you got your honey this models the honey to your children...and then they got the honey too. Honey for all! Put a honey emoji below if you feel a yummy for the honey! 🍯
