Did you know that in the early 1800s, there were over 3,000 acres of grape vines covering the land between Cincinnati and Ripley? The area was the country’s leading wine producer by 1859 🍷. A ferry would bring Cincinnatians across the river into Augusta, KY to visit Baker-Bird Winery, which now holds the title of the oldest commercial winery in America with its original vineyard land (among many other historical feats). Plan your visit to travel back in time-it’s less than an hour away!

We are fans of Wally German's photography (@wallygerman), and apparently so is @rookwoodpottery. In fact, they liked him so much, they made him their Lead Photographer! Good choice, Rookwood. Read our interview with him and see his beautiful work on the site today. He’s this month’s photographer spotlight.

Paul Briol was a photographer in the early-to-mid-20th century who documented many places around the city. We tasked photographer @gordon13ombay with trying to recreate some of Briol’s photos from roughly the same vantage points to see how much has changed. Background on Briol and a gallery of before & after photos await you on the site today.

Norwood, Ohio was incorporated as a village back in 1888, but we’re still learning new things about the special city that neighbors Cincinnati. We took a stroll through Norwood to outline some interesting facts about the historic gems that still stand there and the stories behind them. 📸: @letitfester

Cupid’s Undie Run, an annual Neurofibromatosis (NF) research fundraiser, took place in Mt. Adams yesterday. A bunch of people took to the streets in their skivvies and ran a mile-long race, then partied at area bars afterward. We have a gallery full of photos from the event on the site today. ❤️🏹📸: @letitfester

The latest happenings at Bow Tie Cafe aren’t on its menu, but in its posh new appearance. A recent interior facelift has taken the restaurant from faded green hues to mod greys and blues. New light fixtures, kitchen appliances, décor, and an expanded retail space (perfect for grabbing items on-the-go) are additional features of Bow Tie’s fresh new look. 📸: @allison.mc

The Sycamore Place Lofts at Saint Xavier Park feature upscale living in a renovated former shoe factory. The building was built in 1888 and renovated between 2000 & 2002. No two apartments are the same. In fact, it holds over 20 unique floor plans. If you want to live in a home with character, this is a great option. We took a tour and put photos on the site today. Check it out! 📸: @gordon13ombay

We visited Bircus Brewing Co. last year, but they’ve made a lot of expansions since then. With a new bar and entertainment space, there’s quite a few new reasons to visit this wacky brewery. The space also features a dozen beers on tap to enjoy alongside fun events like wrestling, dance parties, and, of course, circus performances by the entertainers who run the brewery. Owner Paul Miller juggles drink orders and clown clubs at the same time, being a former clown in the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. 🤡

Went up to Eden Park for a photo for a story and stopped by Ida Street on the return trip. Misty night makes the light look extra good. If you look closely, you can see a dinosaur in this photo 😉

Welcome to the Schenck Mansion Bed & Breakfast! This beautiful inn is a restored home from the 1800s with ornate finishes, comfortable accommodations, and seven rumored ghosts lodging there, too. Owners Jerry & Lisa Fisher say the spirits they regularly encounter are all very friendly, and they love to tell you all about their paranormal interactions with souls wandering the residence. Weekends book up pretty quickly, so make sure to make you RSVP to this special B&B soon! 👻

Rhinegeist Brewery kicked off MOVE last night. The night featured an extravaganza of aerial acts, dancing, and two DJs that kept the party going all night. A part of the proceeds from the night went to Mission2Move, a nonprofit that visits schools to teach students how they can incorporate healthy strategies into their lives to prevent chronic stress and other health issues. 📸: Mike Bresnen

The wildlife experts at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden want to introduce you to an incredible new way of learning about animals and natural wonders not from their zoo grounds, but from a much different vantage point: an overseas field trip. The guided travel experience called Cincy Escapes will have zoo staff taking you on four different trips to parts of South America, Africa, and Europe to not simply observe scenic beauty from behind a glass, but experience what nature has to offer when you’re up close and personal 🦁🦓🌷. 📸: Courtesy of Cincy Escapes via @cincinnatizoo

Chef Soleil started out making healthy, diverse dishes, packaging them, and selling them to friends. When she realized how popular her recipes were, she opened her business in 2016, and the deliciousness has only risen to a bigger and better scale. Today, Chef Soleil caters events, offers private chef services, and even does meal-prepping for clients. When she’s not in the kitchen, she likes to give advice to aspiring entrepreneurs in at-risk communites. 📸: @cbrimages
