There is no mastery without feedback. But it’s hard. ⁣
.⁣
Not everyone that gives us feedback is skilled at delivering it in a meaningful way. ⁣
.⁣
And, we’re not always open to hearing it. ⁣
.⁣
This checklist has really helped me over the years.⁣
.⁣
My mantra for receiving feedback: Be brave. Listen. You can take what’s helpful and leave the rest.⁣
.⁣
My mantra for giving feedback: Clear is kind. Unclear is unkind. ⁣
.⁣
Stay brave, awkward, and kind, friends.

Dear @uswnt - GOAT! As a mom who gave birth to a daughter in June of 1999, you taught us what was possible. My daughter doesn’t know a world without you and it’s made such a difference. We will always believe! ❤️⚽️❤️ And thank you Netherlands for a great game!

HELP END THE CHILD DETENTION ATROCITIES.

TogetherRising.org/give OR LINK in Profile

13,100 children are imprisoned right now in federal custody — alone, without their families — facing horrifying neglect and abuse.
.
Today, we will give these kids a defender who will step in front of the abuse they are facing, a protector who will ensure that the atrocities end, and an advocate who will make sure those responsible are held accountable.
.
Holly Cooper, co-director of the Immigration Law Clinic at UC Davis, and her team have inspected more than 30 detention centers over the last few years, saving countless kids.
.
Last month, their legal team found a premature infant so ill she would have died without immediate treatment. The team fought federal authorities to transport the baby to the hospital. And saved her life. Same with 3 more gravely ill toddlers.
.
As an attorney of record in the crucial FLORES settlement, Holly’s team is one of only a handful of legal teams in the world with the right to access CBP facilities, demand inspections, obtain full medical files of the kids, and procure the census of every child detained.
.
$240,000 will get Holly’s team what they need to continue this AND/BOTH work for 2 years: get to the sites for inspections, interview kids, remove them to protect their health & safety, and build legal cases to ensure that these government atrocities end.
.
There are 13,100 kids right now desperately praying for a defender. Let’s do this together. $5 makes a difference.
.
As always, every penny @together.rising receives from your tax-deductible gifts will go to help these kids. Please give at link above or in my profile.

Happy 25th anniversary to the great love of my life. It seems like yesterday that we were scrounging for money under the couch cushions to buy bean and cheese tacos at our favorite taqueria in Austin. Today we’re in Austin taking our incredible daughter to eat tacos for her 20th birthday (and upping the average graffiti wall age). Grateful beyond words. ❤️

Thank you, Henri. These are the lies that keep us small, afraid, and quiet. It was such an honor to write the foreword for his book, Love, Henri: Letters on the Spiritual Life.

In an interview, writer Mary Karr said, "When I got sober, I thought giving up [alcohol] was saying goodbye to all the fun and all the sparkle, and it turned out to be just the opposite. That’s when the sparkle started for me."
This is definitely my truth. Sobriety makes good on the sparkle that booze/drugs/numbing promises but never delivers. Today I'm sharing what being sober for 23 years has meant to me, done for me, and why I think recovery is one of my greatest superpowers. Link in bio (and we are back up)!

The 2019 "Grad Stack" is Wolfpack by @abbywambach, Moment of Lift by @melindafrenchgates and The Path Made Clear by @oprah.

Love all three of these books and the daring women who wrote them! They're the perfect gift for high school and college grads who are ready for their next adventure.

Stay brave, kind and awkward! BB

I can't watch anything too violent, so I've never seen an episode for GoT; however, I looked forward to the Monday morning commentary with the same passion that viewers felt about the show.
.
It became a guilty researcher/storyteller pleasure to read the social media comments and articles to see what people needed, wanted, hated, loved, and loathed from/about the characters and the storyline.
.
I came across this quote in an article, and I love it. ❤️
